Extract from 1949 Timetable

I am grateful to Frank Phillipson who has sent me an extract from the 1949 Metropolitan Line timetable.

Courtesy of Frank Phillipson Of note are the destinations. Stanmore was still part of the Met, although I thought by that time the Bakerloo Line had taken over the branch. Also, the timetable details services to and from Aylesbury, Brackley and Woodford Halse.
Courtesy of Frank Phillipson Note the services from North of Aylesbury were not that frequent, indeed compared to todays service over all there appear to be fewer trains. Also note some of the services from Aylesbury, to Paddington via Beaconsfield and to Paddington via Wycombe and Maidenhead, this would have used the line from high Wycombe via Loudwater which was closed in 1969, but was in fact the first railway line to High Wycombe.
